SONG SNATCH #95- "Jalalalalalabad" by Red Peters

Hello Music Lovers-

Since it’s July 4th week and Iraq and Afghanistan still dominate the news, it brings me back to a a time a few days after 9/11 when my producer, Ed Grenga came to me with an idea for a parody to the 1968 hit song, “Can’t Find The Time”, by the group, Orpheus.

We were pissed and the new lyrics came quickly, and all of us had a good, therapeutic laugh recording that day.

Travel back to 2001 with me and listen to Song Snatch #95 to hear the song that we called, “Jalalalalalabad”.

(episode running time- 4 minutes and 42 seconds)

(You can hear more of Orpheus’ and Bruce Arnold’s songs at iTunes and, and contact him on his facebook page and hear more of Red’s songs at and at

SONG SNATCH #94- "Family Dog" by Eric Travis Wilson

Hello Music Lovers-

In the 2005 documentary, “The Aristocrats”, 100 top comedians tell the same dirty, filthy joke- one shared privately by comics since vaudeville.

It’s sound editor, who is also a musician, was asked by Executive Producer, Penn Jillette to write some songs with “the most disgusting, revolting lyrics” for a proposed travelling band that would promote the film.

The band never materialized, but what kind of songs could he have possibly come up with and what happened to these songs?

Watch out when you tune into Song Snatch #94 to find out and hear one of Eric Travis Wilson’s hilarious tunes, “Family Dog”!

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT #7- Carla Ulbrich

How rich would you be if you owned the copyright on the word fuck?

Hello music lovers! Welcome to and Episode #7 of my interview series, The Song Snatch ARTIST SPOTLIGHT where I feature a short conversation with the most original recording artists on the planet and play one of their remarkable, uncut and uncensored, funny and fucked up songs.

Today’s spotlight is on Carla Ulbrich, a singer/songwriter originally from South Carolina, now living in NJ who overcame serious health issues, kidney failure and a stroke, and went on to become what she calls, “a professional smart aleck”.

I spoke with Carla in April 2006 and learned how her positive attitude, keen sense of observation, and light hearted sense of humor affects her songwriting and how she approaches performing.

She also declares how rich she would be in her song, “If I Owned The Copyright (To The Word Fuck).

Enjoy music lovers.
